Zakes Bantwini Honors His Late Mother

Grammy award-winning star, Zakes Bantwini has wished his late mother a Happy Mother’s Day. The star paid homage to his queen on what would have been her special day.

“Though you may no longer be here in person, your love and sacrifices continue to guide me every day. Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful mother Nomthandazo Madida who will always hold a special place in my heart 🕊️ #heavelymothersday #happymothersdaymom.”

The death of friend and industry colleague Kiernan Jarryd ‘AKA’ Forbes left him paranoid so he decided to take a break from gigs.

Speaking to Drum, Zakes said he was shocked when he learned of the tragic passing of AKA. “I am not doing any gigs for the next month because I am paranoid,” he told the online publication.

“We are all fearful and when you have fear, you have to think again about going to a gig, about posting your show on your Instagram stories,” he added. “Nobody is supposed to die, especially through somebody else’s will. We live in such trying times and it makes you worry because no one is ever brought to book when such things happen.”

When he announced the passing of his father, Zakes Bantwini and his family never revealed the cause of death. Now, he has revealed that his father was also shot and killed.

This death reminded him of that tragic time when his father Sihlangusihle Jeffery Khanyile, was murdered.
