Kelly Khumalo’s career takes a nosedive

0

Kelly Khumalo has suffered all forms of loss since the death of her ex-lover, Senzo Meyiwa in 2014. According to sources, the singer has lost money after not securing bookings following some recent lurid revelations in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

A recent investigation involved her in the killing of her baby daddy. Despite her claim of innocence, shows have cancelled her off-lineup, hence she’s not being booked. A source whose identity isn’t disclosed said that Kelly’s career is taking a nosedive.

“After the startling revelations were made, they shrunk. Promoters don’t want to touch her because obviously they know what’s going on with the court case. Some of her bookings have been cancelled, because of this drama,” the source revealed.

“I was booked at the same event with her, but I was shocked to find that she wouldn’t be performing anymore because she was canceled at the eleventh hour,” an artist revealed to the publication.

“They don’t want to risk it by having her until she is proven innocent, keeping In mind that Senzo had a huge following, so they also don’t want to upset people.

“She is obviously stressed, but doesn’t want to show it, because she knows people want to see her down, because they’ve been throwing accusations against her for many years,” another source says. She’s always painted herself as a victim in throughout this debacle, but things have changed.

Blue Ivy Carter joins mum Beyoncé in Lion King prequel

0

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter has joined the voice cast of The Lion King prequel Mufasa: The Lion King. Blue Ivy, 12, voices Kiara, daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala, played by her mother. Beyoncé is reprising the role from Jon Favreau’s 2019 photorealistic remake of the animated 1994 original.

The new film, directed by Moonlight filmmaker Barry Jenkins, will explore Mufasa’s origin story and his childhood with brother Scar.Like the 2019 movie, it will also combine live-action filmmaking techniques with photoreal computer-generated imagery.

Jenkins told US breakfast show Good Morning America that Blue Ivy was “professional”, while Beyoncé was a “mum first” on set.

“They just approached it that they both wanted to perform and do the best they could. And yet, they didn’t have to pretend very much because they really are mother and daughter.” The first teaser trailer for the film also aired on the programme.

Beyoncé

A voiceover says Mufasa was born “without a drop of nobility in his blood” but “would change our lives forever”. Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr will voice the younger versions of Mufasa and Scar, respectively in the new movie.

The 2019 Lion King film, featured the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.

Glover will reprise his role in Jenkins’s prequel. The cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen and Thandiwe Newton, with Seth Rogan and Billy Eichner also returning.

The movie will feature original songs by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has also penned songs for films including Mary Poppins Returns and Encanto. While this is Blue Ivy’s debut film role, she has performed previously as a dancer on her mum’s live tour.

Blue Ivy is the eldest daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The couple also share twins Rumi and Sir, six. Her casting will no doubt relight the debate about so-called nepo babies.

The term refers to suggestions of nepotism when a young person follows in their famous parents’ footsteps. Mufasa: The Lion King is due to be released in the UK in December this year.

Dineo Ranaka on how radio makes her sick

0

Media personality Dineo Ranaka has opened up about her bad experiences with radio. During her interview on BET Africa’s Behind The Story with Nomalanga, Shozi, the former Kaya FM presenter said the main reason for her mental illness was radio. Radio makes me physically sick,” Ranaka said. 5FM I fell sick, YFM I fell sick, Metro FM I went to initiation school, Kaya FM I got depression. Radio makes me sick.”

The mother-of-three also revealed that radio is not her first love, as television production is what she loves more. Radio is not even in the list of my top 10 things to do. [I do it] because I’m good at it and it pays my bills. Ranaka said the people, politics and construct of radio is what makes her physically sick. She explained that while she can handle turbulence, there is a certain type of abuse that her body cannot handle.

“It’s a very abusive industry on the back end,” said Ranaka.  In July last year, Kaya FM fired Ranaka. This came after she took time off work as she was struggling with her mental health and battling suicide thoughts.

Dineo Ranaka

According to Sunday World at the time, an internal memo sent to its employees communicated that the Gauteng-based commercial radio station had tried everything they could to accommodate the reality TV star. This included facilitating her admission to a mental institution where she reportedly discharged herself a few days later.

Kaya FM also revealed that the DJ did not communicate her medical issues with them, instead she reportedly went AWOL (absent without leave) and her employers found out about her challenges on social media.

According to the acting managing director, Collen Louw, they tried to communicate with Ranaka to find out how she was doing, but their attempts failed. He added that they wish to help Ranaka and work with her again.

dineo ranaka

“Kaya 959 is prepared to continue supporting Ranaka’s mental wellness journey and we hope that she will be open to discussing possible mutually beneficial opportunities in future,” he said. After she and the station parted ways, Ranaka revealed that she has been living with temporal lobe epilepsy since her mid-twenties. She also disclosed that she was diagnosed with severe chronic depression this year.

Dineo Ranaka

As per Health Line, Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is one of 20 different kinds of epilepsy and is the most common. Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes changes in brain cell activity that result in seizures, periods of unusual behavior or feelings, and in some cases a loss of consciousness.

Dineo Ranaka

People with this condition experience feelings of déjà-vu (familiarity) or some stomach upset – The Epilepsy Foundation said. These may be coupled with feelings of fear, panic, anxiety, a rising sensation coming from the stomach to the chest or throat, or butterflies with nausea are other common auras. Some people may sense an unusual smell.

Zola 7 gets a second chance

0

He was once a reality show host who many wrote to, asking for help to rebuild schools, build libraries and help in projects that benefit and improve communities. A few years ago, he lost everything, his show, a contract with a cellphone giant, and some of his belongings, such as his cars and fell ill. Bonginkosi ‘Zola 7’ is said to be making a larger than life come back.

The Mdlwembe singer is currently working on a talk show, which he already started shooting. “He has done really riveting interviews with big stars already,” a source told ZiMoja, adding that, “I cannot reveal the details as he still needs to go and pitch to channels and clients.

Zola 7

Zola feels he got a second chance at life after falling ill and was hospitalised for five weeks. “He has learned from past mistakes and this time; he wants to do things right. Everyone deserves a second chance. People loved what he did for communities. He did what government failed to do and he became the messiah and the voice of the people.”

Zola 7

Zola told ZiMoja in an interview last year that when he fell ill, he was taking 200mg of pills twice a day. “I had epilepsy for a long time and I did not know about it until I was hospitalised.” The singer said he was lucky to be alive and believed this is his chance to make a comeback. Many people who visited him during his time of need donated money and wished him good health. He has also been working on new music.

I have never stopped making music, it’s my passion and it motivated me,” he said. He can’t reveal much on the coming show but said he has been working hard behind the scenes. “I’ve been working on big projects, making moves and when the time is right, all will be revealed. I don’t want you rush anything and mess it up. I’ve learned to be patient and trust God to handle the process.
