Scientists say a spoon of olive oil a day can save your life

0

If you want to live longer, you need to take at least a spoonful of olive oil. Olive oil is a type of liquid fat that is produced by pressing whole olives. In many churches, olive oil is used as a spiritual means of healing; it’s called anointing oil. It does have healing properties, though it’s not necessarily spiritual.

The benefits of a spoon of olive oil
The Mediterranean diet—a diet rich in olive oil—causes better brain health and lowers heart disease risk. You can replace vegetable oil with olive oil for a healthier life.

Researchers found that replacing margarine or mayonnaise with olive oil daily reduces the risk of dementia death by 8–14%, but this benefit was not observed when using other vegetable oils or butter.

A scientific study with over 92,000 participants showed that a spoonful of olive oil might be linked to a reduced risk of death from dementia, regardless of whether the person had a good or bad dieting habit. People who included at least half a tablespoon (seven grammes) of olive oil daily saw a 28% lower risk of death than those who didn’t regularly consume it.

According to the researchers, olive oil’s antioxidant qualities may have an impact on why it contributes to longevity. These components may pass the blood-brain barrier, thereby directly affecting the brain and cardiovascular health, respectively.

Actor Steve Buscemi was randomly assaulted in New York City

0

Actor Steve Buscemi was randomly assaulted in New York City last week, his publicist said Sunday. The iconic actor, a New York native known for starring roles in the television show “Boardwalk Empire” and in movies such as “Fargo” and “Reservoir Dogs,” was allegedly assaulted in Manhattan’s Kips Bay neighborhood in a “random act of violence,” Buscemi’s publicist said.

Police said they responded to a 911 call about an assault at about 11:48 a.m. ET on May 8. Responding officers were told a 66-year-old man was punched in the face in front of 369 3rd Avenue by an unidentified individual, the New York Police Department said last week in a news release that did not identify Buscemi by name. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition for treatment of bruising, swelling, and bleeding to his left eye.

Buscemi “is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY,” his publicist said.

The NYPD said the suspect was “wearing a dark colored baseball style cap, blue t shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a bookbag,” adding that there were no arrests and the investigation was continuing.

Police said there have been a dozen reported incidents over the past several weeks of people, mostly women, being randomly attacked in New York City — with six arrests being made.

Gogo Maweni not bothered by those criticising her for having four baby daddies

Gogo Maweni announced that she is expecting her fourth child and the first with her husband, Sabelo Magube. Though a lot of people have come out to criticise her for having four children with four different fathers, Maweni, real name Lee Ann Mokopo, could not be bothered and says a child is a gift from God.

Gogo Maweni

Gogo Maweni had her first child with an unknown man from the US, her second child with actor Sthembiso ‘SK’ Khoza, and her third child with fallen footballer, Siyabonga Zulu. At first, she didn’t want to have another baby. “I felt the three boys I have were enough. The fact that I have them with different fathers is an issue for some people but not for me.” She is not bothered by people criticising her for having four baby daddies. “People will always have something to say, it doesn’t bother me.

I have proven that I’m a mother and I can have children. Fortunately, I met someone who loves me and who I am married to. So, it’s only natural for me to bear children for him,” she says. “It took a while. I didn’t want a fourth child, but here I am pregnant and ready to go. I know this baby is going to bring so much joy and blessings.

Gogo Maweni

Her family has so much to celebrate as Gogo Maweni and Sabelo are also planning their big wedding in August. “This year has just been flourishing – a bomb after a bomb. We moved into our new house, we are busy, work has been good and everything is moving in the right direction. I am pleased to be pregnant currently and to be planning for our big day which I can’t say much about as yet.” Gogo Maweni says this year has just come with a lot of blessings.

I know that the baby will bring unity and joy to both families. I look forward to being a new mom again. At least this time it will be different because I will be giving birth to a child that will be in a home with both mom and dad. It is not what has happened to me in the past. Like many who spent Mother’s Day treating their loved ones, she spent the day with her mom, stepmom, children and husband. She gifted her mother with a new BMW.

“I love seeing her happy,” she says. “On Mother’s Day, I usually start the day with my mom, spend time with her, then I move on to my stepmom and spend time with her as I did yesterday and I do this with all my kids as I am with them most of the time,” she says. “I’m very family oriented. I don’t have a lot of friends but I have a lot of family members and my immediate family and I are very close.” She takes her job as a mom very seriously and it is what encourages her to wake up every morning.

My boys are the reason I work so hard, they are the reason why I push and unfortunately they don’t have supportive fathers, so I have no choice but to do everything on my own and I have to show up for them,” she adds. “I will never ask my parents to help me with my kids financially but they will always be when it comes to raising them, protecting them and instilling values. I have to work hard and make sure they have everything they need. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be strong and passionate about what I do. They came into my life and changed everything
