Kwaito star Brickz is still in prison

South African Kwaito artist who was convinced for raping a 17-year-old relative Brickz—real name Sipho Ndlovu has not qualified for special remission or parole, ZiMoja recently reported. Rumours have recently swirled on social media alleging that Brickz was granted parole. However, this is not the case, the publication reported. The Sweety Ma Baby hitmaker was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping his underage relative in 2013.

According to the publication, a source speaking with the publication was reported to have shared that Brickz still believes he was set up. However, his prison nightmare is reportedly far from over. He still believes that he is innocent and that he was set up. [He is adamant that he] didn’t rape anyone. As much as he pretends to be strong, being in prison has taken its toll on him,” the source was quoted as saying.

During Magistrate Baloyi’s ruling, it was revealed that the victim was a virgin at the time of the incident. Her hymen was said to have broken during the act, resulting in her bleeding.

According to the publication, after the victim was raped, the disgraced former musician allegedly instructed the girl to take a bath and also threatened to kill her if she uttered a word to anyone about what had transpired between them. The rape victim was also said to have gotten infected with a sexually transmitted disease during the rape.Brickz was born in Zola, a section of the Soweto township lying south of Johannesburg in Gauteng. He was discovered by a popular South African producer, DJ Cleo. The convicted rapist and former kwaito star rose to fame with his popular hit songs such as Left Right, Tyovityo, Uzo’gcwala, and more. Briefly reported that he dropped his first debut album titled Face Brick in 2005.
