e.TV’s first local medical drama soapie Durban Gen has been replaced with a new TV drama titled Nikiwe. TVSA reports that Nikiwe, which is produced by Thomas Gumede and Lungile Radebe from Parental Advisory Productions will premiere on e.tv on Monday 24 April at 18h30 when Durban Gen ends.
Speaking about the new soapie, e.tv’s Executive Producer Mark Madai revealed in a statement: “Exciting times are ahead of us, as a channel we fell in love with this story concept because it also follows the lives of the youth, we’ve explored all possible dilemmas that this market would go through and translated them to screen, giving viewers a product that they’ll resonate with, night in, night out. e.tv confirmed the cancelation of the hospital drama in 2022, due to its underperformance.
“e.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate of producing exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully achieved its part of the obligation throughout the past 2 years.
