Uncle Waffles’s nomination at BET Awards 2023 stirred lots of South Africans as she didn’t represent SA, rather she was nominated as a citizen of Swaziland.

The DJ who has been greatly supported by South Africans over the years was nominated alongside Burna Boy, Ayra Star, Stormzy, K.O, and a few others for the Best International Act category.

While K.O. represented SA, Waffles represented Swaziland. Seeing that the DJ’s country isn’t SA, it left many angry and talking.

“This Uncle waffles award story is exactly what it feels like when you’re a stepfather. You raise the little thing along with its mother, and when it’s all grown up and making it big, boom ” I want to be with my real father ” And give him all the credit for your work,” a tweep wrote.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time she’s been nominated for an award with the country Swaziland beside her name; guess some South Africans are just realizing.
