Season one of Shaka iLembe broke screen records and as it shoots season two of the Mzansi Magic show, It has emerged that a few weeks ago, there was an alleged incident of food poisoning on set.ZiMoja understands that the unfortunate incident left two members of the production team dead.
An assistant make-up artist is also dead as a result of the food poisoning incident that left the entire production cast and crew reeling in shock. The second person’s name hasn’t been made known just yet,” a source close to the situation said. The source also shared how this incident was being kept hush hush from the prying eyes of the media, as “there’s already too much drama that can comprise the success of the second season.
“This incident hasn’t been kept under wraps, so that not much attention is drawn to it, because of the negative publicity the second season has gotten so far,” the insider revealed, adding that while the first season enjoyed rave reviews and broke viewership records, “producers fear the worst.”The show’s success for the first season can be attributed to the big names such as Thembinkosi Mthembu, Vusi Kunene, Nomzamo Mbatha, Khabonina Qubeka and many others.
The latest scandal has apparently left everyone in panic, fearing that the second season won’t be do as well as the first. “Everyone is panicking, especially the big names that made the show a success. It’s bad, everyone hopes that the show is not highly affected,” concluded the well-placed source.
A family member has come forward, saying that they want closure so they can move on. “We just want to know why our child died the way she died, and nothing was done and nobody is taking accountability,” the family member told ZiMoja. Initially when pressed for comment, Mzansi Magic denied that there had been any food poisoning that took place on the set of Shaka iLembe, but now they claim that the make-up artist was sick already. “She was already sick before she came to the set of Shaka iLembe,” said Portia Hlongwane from Mzansi Magic when pressed for comment.
