How to make delicious homemade ice cream

Before autumn fully sets in, we are still enjoying the last of summer’s hot days.

To beat the heat and soak up the sun, Hilary Biller shares her hacks to make delicious homemade ice cream — with no fuss and no ice cream maker.

Check the power outage schedule as you require an electric mixer to make it and the ice cream needs about 12 hours in the freezer.
The recipe makes two liters of ice cream. Ensure you have a two-liter plastic container with a lid — reuse an ice cream container — to package the ice cream for freezing.
Three ingredients are needed — 500ml (two cups) fresh cream (if you are using long-life cream, ensure it has been well chilled for at least 24 hours), 1 x 385g can condensed milk (you can use the standard one or low sugar version) and 5ml (1 tsp) vanilla essence.
First whip the cream using an electric mixer till you have nice firm peaks, taking care not to turn it into butter. Fold in the condensed milk and vanilla essence and beat again until just incorporated. Pour into a two-liter container, cover, and freeze.
The beauty of this ice cream is you can add any flavoring you desire by folding it into the mixture before freezing. One idea is the finely grated citrus rind, 250ml (1 cup) chocolate chips, crushed chocolate Chuckles, chocolate chip biscuits, or crushed Oreo biscuits; or perhaps 250ml (1 cup) lemon or orange curd and 250ml (1 cup) fresh chopped berries.
Homemade ice cream needs to stand outside the freezer for 10-15 minutes for easy serving. Delicious in a bowl on its own or in a cone. Add a dollop of chocolate sauce before serving and a sprinkling of toasted nuts if desired.

The mall most definitely has a more local feel… although you will be able to find many brands and restaurants in this mall, it is not quite as luxurious and big compared to some of the other malls o f Johannesburg. None the less, it is perfect for all your daily needs, it is clean and the service all over is great.

The Rosebank mall is easily accessible from one of the Gautrain stops, a great option if you do not want to drive and park your car… or if you are not able to. This mall is four stories high and has great food, shopping, cinemas and all other necessities such as banks and chemists.

Scientific research has suggested an easy fix to help women get more sleep: tell your male partner to sleep on the couch while you share a bed with your dog.

Sounds easy enough, right?

Well, according to a 2018 study, if a woman sleeps in the same bed as her dog rather than sharing with a man, she will get a better night’s rest.

Dr. Christy L. Hoffman, an animal behavior professor at Canisius College in New York, and her team conducted the study and managed to reach that surprising conclusion.

They surveyed 962 adult women in the US and found that women reported their dog to be less disruptive than sharing their beds with another human.

Dogs also provided them with a greater sense of security and comfort.

Dr. Hoffman told Healthline: “In comparison to human bed partners, dogs may be better at accommodating their human’s sleep schedule.

“It’s not uncommon for human bed partners to go to bed at very different times and wake up at very different times.

“Such differences in partners’ schedules can certainly disrupt sleep.

“It may be that dog bed partners adapt more readily to their owner’s schedule than do human bed partners.”

By contrast, cats were found to be just as disruptive as humans and didn’t provide the same sense of security as a dog or a human.

Dr. Hoffman was keen to make clear that sharing your bed with a dog might not be the solution for everybody.

Speaking to Broadly, she said: “The keyword here is perception.

“This [study is based on] individuals self-reporting how they feel their sleep is affected and it’s important to note that this is based on aggregated data and an average of responses, so getting a dog won’t solve everyone’s sleep problems.”

Suppose that makes sense, after all, some dogs snore and need to get up for a wee in the middle of the night, just like men.

Plus sharing a bed with a St Bernard is hardly going to be the same as cozying up next to a Pomeranian or something.

Still, the dog is hardly going to barge in at 3 am stinking of booze, is it?

Just note, that if your Mrs kicks you out of bed, it won’t always mean it’s because she wants to replace you with a dog.

The “Masked Singer” host, Jamie Foxx, 42, said his Oscar-winning friend, 55, was “awake” and “alert” almost two weeks after he was hospitalized with a “medical complication”.

In the third episode of “Soul Binge,” Enhle suggests that she might have forgiven Black Cofee.

Enhle and Black Coffee reportedly split in 2019 due to infidelity allegations. Enhle accused the internationally acclaimed DJ of emotional and physical abuse. Having recently cut her hair, the actress announced a new chapter in her life by starting Soul Binge.
