Kelly Khumalo implicated as the one who allegedly ordered a hit on Senzo Meyiwa

0

Accused 1 and 2 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, have implicated late Senzo Meyiwa’s then girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, as the person who ordered the killing of the former soccer star. This was revealed by the lead investigator in the Meyiwa murder case, Brigadier Bongani Gininda at the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday afternoon.

According to eyewitnesses, who were present the night Meyiwa was shot and killed at Kelly’s Vosloorus home, two intruders allegedly entered the house and demanded cellphones and money before a scuffle ensued during which Meyiwa was fatally wounded.

kelly khumalo

As the trial within a trial looking into the admissibility of confession statements continued, Gininda has told the court that their investigation revealed that Ntanzi was the taller intruder that entered the house after accused No 3, Mthobisi Mncube.

“The suspect made a confession to a commissioned officer on the 19th of June and later made a further confession in the presence of his attorney and to a magistrate in Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on the 24th of June. Through the confession it does appear that this suspect is the suspect that was described as tall and slender who came into the house,” says Gininda.

Kelly Khumalo

“He also implicated Miss Kelly Khumalo as the person who gave the order to kill Senzo Meyiwa,” he reveals.

This is the second time Kelly’s name has been mentioned in the trial after cellphone experts, Colonel Lambertus Steyn, previously told the court that cellphone records had revealed calls between the number that was being used by accused 5, Fisojuhle Ntuli and a number registered under Kelly’s name. According to Steyn, the calls took place at least on two occasions before Meyiwa’s October 2014 murder – the first time on the 2nd of August in 2014, followed by another call on the 15 of October, exactly 11 days before the incident.

Kelly Khumalo

The contents of the conversation have remained a mystery to the investigators. Gininda says according to accused 1, Muzi Sibiya’s confession, he was standing outside at the time the former Bafana Bafana was shot and killed, despite naming the name of Marco Buthelezi as the person who killed Meyiwa.

He says their investigation has, however, revealed accused 3, Mncube was the person that pulled the trigger and killed the former soccer star.

He says the photos downloaded from Mncube’s phone revealed that on the day, the third accused was wearing clothes that matched the description of the accused who entered the house carrying a gun, spotting dreadlocks.

“He is also the same suspect that shot the deceased during the struggle. Evidence also shows that he is Zulu speaking. In fact, all the accused in this matter are Zulu speaking and are known to each other. Photos were equally found of the murder weapon used in the killing of Senzo Meyiwa,” says Gininda.

Calls for Kelly Khumalo’s arrest following allegations she ordered hit Senzo Meyiwa

0

South Africans on social media want singer Kelly Khumalo behind bars. This comes after the North Gauteng High Court heard on Wednesday, 24 January, that the Ngathwala Ngaye hitmaker ordered her boyfriend Senzo Meyiwa’s killing. The information is contained in lead investigator Brigadier Bongani Gininda’s affidavit.
In Gininda’s affidavit, which he deposed in November 2020, accuses numbers one and two (Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi) implicated Khumalo as the person who ordered the hit.

Kelly Khumalo

Meyiwa was shot dead inside Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus in October 2014. Khumalo; her sister, Zandile; Zandile’s boyfriend, Longwe Twala; the singer’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo; and two of Meyiwa’s friends, Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala, were all in the house that fateful day. Earlier this week, the court heard that Meyiwa’s murder was not a botched robbery, as initially portrayed by the witnesses. It was rather a contractual assassination.

Kelly Khumalo

The affidavit further revealed that there were four cellphone numbers linked to Khumalo which she did not disclose. Investigations showed that these numbers linked Khumalo to accused number three, Mthobisi Ncube, and accused number five, Fisokuhle Ntuli.

“It was further discovered that through cellphone analysis her cellphone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position or location or spot of that of accused number three

Gininda said there is no reasonable explanation as to why Khumalo would be in contact with her boyfriend’s killers.

Furthermore, communication records between the musician and her sister, disclosed that she allegedly wanted to “get rid of the deceased as early as 2013”.

“It is apparently clear that she hated him and wanted to get rid of him. She further states that she regrets not succeeding to get rid of him before. Taking all of this into account, an inference can be drawn she meant killing him.

Lerato Sengadi to tell her story as a young widow

PR and marketing professional, former Big Brother Mzansi contestant and widow of the late Motswako rapper HHP, Lerato Sengadi, has joined the cast of Five Widows Unveiled. A10-part Showmax Original that follows the lives of women who have lost their public-figure husbands.Jabulani Tsambo, best known as HHP died in 2018 after hanging himself with a rope at his home in the Johannesburg suburb of Randpark Ridge.

This was after several unsuccessful attempts in the past. It was reported that his father tried to save him after the helper found him. Lerato’s life after her husband’s passing has been a rollercoaster as she does not see eye to eye with his family. Lerato was in a two-year legal dispute with HHP’s family over her status as the rapper’s customary wife. The Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by HHP’s father ,Robert Tsambo, to have the marriage revoked. Tsambo has since passed away.

Lerato Sengadi and HHP

In the show, Lerato walks viewers through her life as a widow. She is joined by Mandoza’s wife and stroke survivor Mpho Tshabalala, broadcaster and philanthropist Sikelelwa Ngubane, who is the widow of actor Menzi Ngubane, businesswoman Fundiswa Molefe, the widow of businessman John Molefe and businesswoman Lerato Maphatsoe, the widow of the former deputy Minister of Defence Kebby Maphatsoe. Lerato says she decided to be part of the show after realising that being widowed is treated like a colossal taboo. “No one wants to talk about it, but it’s a day-to-day reality for millions of people,” she says. “Throughout my journey as a young widow, I realised that black widows, specifically, have it harder. It’s a generational curse and pattern. Women can’t speak openly about these experiences, they can’t speak about the pain and the journey to rediscovering themselves after loss.

Lerato Sengadi

Lerato says stories of young widow are rare. “The fact that you have to wear all black when your husband dies is just a ‘scarlet letter’ to let people know that you’re now a widow, so everyone must feel pity for you and avoid you like a plague,” Lerato says adding that society has made it very difficult to be a widow. “When you show up for each other you are ridiculed and it’s called ‘trauma bonding’, instead of seeing it as a support system. In that moment of loss, you want someone who understands what you’re going through and who will help validate your emotions and feelings.” She wants to show her reality and let people know that it’s not easy. “It is nothing to be ashamed ofand you’re not alone,” Lerato concludes.
