Chinese national accused in Cynide scandal claims she is a diplomat to evade arrest

A Chinese national who was arrested yesterday at the Harare magistrate court on allegations of smuggling more than 100 tonnes of Cynide has claimed to be a diplomat.

Li Song who is facing several allegations that include money laundering, extenalisation, theft and attempted murder has been released by the National Prosecuting Authority to the amusement of the complainants who have a solid evidence against her.

According to the source who attended the vetting process Li Song claimed to be a diplomat who is immune from arrest in the country and the members of Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission went to the Chinese embassy to verify her claim..

According to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission officers Somg was taken to Avondale police station cells for verification.

The notorious Chinese national has been implicated in various offences in the country and is also suspected to be one of the suspect in the poisoning of elephants with Cynide in the country.

Song is accused of externalizing more than US$11 million to an offshore bank account and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe is a complainant in the case.

Song was arrested at the Harare magistrates court by members of Zacc and is expected to appear in court today.

According to the source Li improtedd more than 100 tonnes of Cynide but was later found with 40 tonnes which was stores at different places in a bid to use it in court to obstruct the course of justice.

Li was recently summons to appear in court on May 21 on allegations of externalization and moneylaundering which Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe is the complainant.

She is accused of externalizing US$11 million through the central bank after manufacturing invoices to get forex at the bank’s auction system.

The Chinese national who is also referred as a defacto ambassador of China is also facing allegations of attempting to kill her business partner Franesco Marconati who is the owner of Eagle Italian Leather and Shoes.

The late award-winning gospel musician, Sfiso Ncwane‘s mother, Fikile Ncwane wants to do a traditional cleansing ceremony known as Ukumkhuphula to ‘bring home’ the spirit of the gospel musician. The ceremony of Ukumkhuphula, is practiced mostly by Nguni families who want the spirit of the deceased to be brought back home months or years after the burial. This is normally done after the mourning period has ended.

Sfiso, a popular gospel singer and composer, died on 5 December 2016, aged 37. His wife Ayanda Ncwane, who managed Sfiso’s music career, held an unveiling ceremony for her late hubby a fortnight ago and she snubbed Sfiso’s mother and his older child when he unveiled the decorated tombstone of her late husband.

Speaking to Zimoja, Sifiso’s mother confirmed that ,as a family, they are planning a traditional ceremony of Ukukhuphula for her late son. She said it broke her heart when she learned that Ayanda did not include ifiso’s family when she unveiled his tombstone.

Ayanda, who has been frequenting Nigeria lately for church engagements, did not invite Sfiso’s other children and his friends. Sfiso’s mom said she would like her grandchildren to attend the ceremony even though her estranged makoti, Ayanda, has been ignoring her requests to see her grandchildren.”I don’t know what I did to her but I want her to know that I love her because she is the mother of my grandchildren,” she said, with a broken heart. She also pleaded with Ayanda to grant her access to see her grandchildren, saying she won’t be around forever.

She also pleaded with her makoti to forgive her for whatever wrong she did to her. “I am old ngane yami (my child). I don’t know what I did to her. I am sorry, but God won’t keep me around forever. I would like to see my grandkids because seeing them on social media and TV is not enough,” she added. “As a woman of God, I hope she finds it in her heart to forgive me for whatever I did to her,” she added. She said the last time she saw Ayanda was in December 2016 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium during Sfiso’s funeral.

Family of Ukhozi FM’s Zanele Mbokazi asks for privacy following diagnosis

The family of ailing Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi has revealed that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, shared the news on the Ukhozi FM breakfast show, Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show, on Wednesday, 8 May.

“After several tests, the doctors found that Zanele has lung cancer. That is what the doctors discovered,” Nkambule told the Ukhozi FM listeners.

The bishop – who was accompanied by the isiZulu radio station’s business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo – thanked everyone for their prayers thus far and asked that they continue to pray for Mbokazi’s healing.

He further asked for privacy, on behalf of the Mbokazi and Nkambule families, and requested that listeners and supporters refrain from making speculations about his wife’s health. Mbokazi, who is the founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, was hospitalised last week after losing her voice straight after her Sunday show. She hosts Ukhozi FM’s gospel morning show, Eshilo, every Sunday between 09:00 and 12:00.

On Sunday, 21 April, Mbokazi could not finish her show as she lost her breath and voice. Her colleague, Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu, had to fill in for her.

“Zanele has been unwell since Sunday, 21 April. She was unable to host her show, and MaMkhize Ndlovu filled in for her. She experienced severe pains but felt better by Friday, 26 April, and even attended an event in Pietermaritzburg. However, upon returning to work on Sunday, the illness struck again, but fortunately, she managed to complete her show despite the struggle,” said Mbokazi’s spokesperson, Nonjabulo Mdluli.

“Zanele is receiving treatment in the hospital and her condition is improving. We urge people to continue praying for her,” she added. While it was reported that she had the flu at first, Mbokazi opened up about her illness on Facebook last week.

“Wow! I fell so ill this morning. The truth is that I don’t have the flu. From last Sunday, I have been battling isbhobo [sharp cramps often on the upper body] and voicelessness.

“Today [Sunday] I came to work because I felt better, the cramps were gone and my voice was back, but it started all over again,” she wrote and asked for prayers. A few days later, she revealed to her Facebook followers that her surgery had gone well.

“Thank you to all the pastors, artists and friends who sent through prayers and flowers. Thank you as well to my Eshilo family for your prayers and messages of support on this page. My in-laws in Swaziland, thank you for the love. The theatre procedure went well. Now managing the pain,” she wrote.

Former Gagasi FM presenter Penny Ntuli was involved in a car accident on her way to Johannesburg on Tuesday, 7 May. The 27-year-old influencer revealed the news to her followers on Facebook, stating that she is grateful she made it out unscathed. In the post, Ntuli explained that she was driving on the N3 Highway when a log from a truck fell out and hit her car.

“Today I decided ukunyusa imoto yam ize ngala eGoli ngoba sengqala ukuyijwayela lendawo, next thing out of nowhere kuFreeway kuwa ugodo kwiTruck lazotheleka straight kumina. [Today I decided to bring my car to Johannesburg as I am getting used to the place and the next thing on the highway, a log from a truck landed straight onto my car], ” she said. Ntuli added that she swerved and drove onto the grass to avoid crashing onto on-coming traffic.

In a lengthy Facebook and Instagram post, the TikTok sensation revealed that Gagasi FM had given her the graveyard show on Sundays between 1:00 and 4:00. On offer was an amount of R711,98 per show.

Ntuli said that she had “gladly accepted the new show” until she was told she would be getting paid R2 800 per month. According to the radio host, her new salary would have not been too far from what she had been paid for the past two years. After her departure, Ntuli was announced as the host of the Mid Morning Chat Show on Jozi FM – which airs every Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 12:00.

However, according to ZiMoja, there was some drama as some of her new colleagues were unhappy that she was getting special treatment.
