Matthew Lani demands R9 million damages from the department of health Bogus doctor Matthew Lani has sued the Department of Health-for being manhandled by the security guards at the Helen Joseph Tertiary hospital.
Lani trended in 2023 as he was arrested for impersonating a medical doctor. He’s asked his lawyers to sue the department for unlawful and malicious arrest and detention’ by the guards at the hospital last year. According to Zimoja, Lani is demanding damages of R9 million from the department.
“It is our instructions that on or about 29 October 2023, our client was maliciously and unlawfully arrested and detained by security personnel of Potlako Security & Cleaning Services stationed at Helen Joseph Hospital whose and ranks are unknown to our client.”
“It is our instructions that our client was wrongfully and maliciously arrested and detained without an arrest warrant at Helen Joseph Hospital,” Lani’s lawyer wrote.
