Lil Wayne Doubts AI’s Capability To Recreate His Talents

Lil Wayne isn’t convinced about artificial intelligence’s ability to reproduce his talent on the mic, explaining that it’s hard to recreate “one of a kind.” Weezy covered the latest issue of Billboard on Wednesday (August 2) in celebration of Hip Hop 50, and the interview saw him dish on an array of topics including the AI craze latching onto rap music.

Wayne doesn’t think AI will be able to catch up and match his unique skillset in the studio because of his originality.

“Someone asked me about that recently. And they were trying to tell me that AI could make a voice that sounds just like me. But it’s not me, because I’m amazing,” he said.

“I’m like, ‘Is this AI thing going to be amazing too?’ Because I am naturally, organically amazing. I’m one of a kind. So actually, I would love to see that thing try to duplicate this motherfucker.”

Elsewhere during the chat, the New Orleans rap deity said he doesn’t have a secret to his longevity but thinks his insane work ethic has something to do with it.

“I don’t have a secret,” he testified. “I just work. I just keep going. I never stop. It’s just the work ethic, plain and simple. No more, no less; I don’t do anything but my music.

“And also, in my mind, every single time I say the word ‘work,’ I ask God to forgive me. Cuz I know this has never been a job. It’s just a dream come true. So that’s why I’ve never stopped.”

Wayne also reflected on his undeniable influence on the rap game when it comes to the next generation embracing parts of his look such as face tattoos.

“Sometimes people ask me how I feel about everybody looking like me, everybody getting tattoos, etc,” he said. “That’s like seeing your kid come out of the room and look just like you; it feels amazing.”

On the music side, Lil Wayne additionally revealed he’s still hard at work on Tha Carter VI but didn’t put a release date out there.
