Kendrick Lamar has filmed a music video for his smash hit “Not Like Us,” with what seemed like all of his native Compton neighborhood serving as extras. In a clip shared by The Art Of Dialogue on X (formerly Twitter), the former Top Dawg Entertainment rapper can be seen dancing in front of a row of bystanders as the song draws to an end.
The outlet reported the footage was captured outside of Compton City Hall, which was the second location for the shoot on Saturday (June 22).
Several other clips have been shared online, including one in which Kendrick and the song’s producer Mustard are being filmed as they walk out of the Rosecrans location of local culinary landmark Tam’s Burgers.
Other shots find the two collaborators dancing in front of the restaurant; then joining the crowd gathered in the parking lot just outside. In yet another clip, TDE president Punch can be seen supporting Kendrick on set.
K. Dot and his team reportedly shelled out a pretty penny to have LASD Deputies serve as security during the video shoot. TMZ reported on Friday (June 21) that the superstar rapper is paying Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies $120 an hour to keep him, his team, and the community safe.
According to the site, the added security has nothing to do with K. Dot’s recent drama with Drake.
The post stated: “While law enforcement sources tell us the police are aware of Kendrick’s recent beef with nemesis Drake, we’re told no known threats have surfaced at this time.”
The “Not Like Us” shoot culminates a thrilling week for Kendrick Lamar, who turned his “Pop Out” concert into a family affair by inviting ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul onstage for a Black Hippy reunion.
During his show, Kendrick and his former TDE crew stood on stage for a rendition of ScHoolboy Q’s 2014 cut “Collard Greens.” After running through the Oxymoron track, the Compton rapper ceded the stage to the “Man of the Year” MC, who performed 2016’s “THat Part.”
Prior to that, Kendrick Lamar welcomed Jay Rock for “Money Trees,” “Win” and “King’s Dead,” with Ab-Soul also there for “6:16 in LA.”

Boosie Badazz never holds back from voicing his disdain for those who don’t abide by the standards of “traditional masculinity,” and he has now made an entire song about it. On Wednesday (June 19), the Louisiana native took to social media to share that his next album will go live on June 25. In conjunction with the announcement, he also posted an extract from an unreleased song that will presumably be on the new record.
“Rapper paint they nail and told, ‘That’s what women do’/ Playing gay so ya’ll support em,’ they pimpin’ you/ So really ya’ll get played for change, supporting people who don’t even know your pain,” he can be heard rapping in the video. Read more
