Ice Cube has said that he doesn’t believe Kendrick Lamar is finished beefing with Drake. Speaking with Shaquille O’Neal on a recent episode of The Big Podcast, the N.W.A legend offered his thoughts on the fiery rap beef that ended up involving families and wild accusations about pedophilia and domestic abuse.
Offering his take on the feud, Cube said: “I always approve of rap battles. That’s the essence of the game. It goes back to Busy Bee and Kool Moe Dee and even further than that. It’s part of the game as long as it doesn’t get physical because that’s not rap.
“I think Kendrick is up, he’s landed the more hard and effective punches, but that doesn’t mean Drake can’t get off the canvas. If I was Kendrick, I’d stay locked and loaded just to be ready for whatever.”

The comments mark a change in tone for Ice Cube, who recently declared himself a critic of rap feuds despite being involved in a few himself.
“I don’t like seeing rappers beef,” he said. “I don’t think it’s necessary to have a great career, but it happens. Hey, it’s part of the game, and I think when you’re in a beef, you can’t hold back. It’s like being in a fight; you can’t half punch, you gotta go all the way.”
In May, Ice Cube also gave himself the title of best diss song in Hip Hop history.
Speaking to the crowd during a concert performance, Cube said: “‘No Vaseline’ is the best diss song in the history of Hip Hop, and I’ll tell you why. One MC, myself, I took out four muthafuckas and their manager. You can’t beat that. You can’t beat that.”
He added: “But we did that over 30 years ago, so as it stands today, I got nothing but love for N.W.A, okay? Nothing but love for Dr. Dre, nothing but love for MC Ren, DJ Yella, Eazy-E rest in peace.”
During a conversation with DJ Whoo Kid last year, Ice Cube scoffed at a ranking of the “Most Unforgettable Diss Tracks in Hip Hop History,” by The Root, in which “No Vaseline” was listed in third place while 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” sat in the number one spot.
“How’s 2Pac number one when he needed help on that record?” questioned Cube, referring to the fact that The Outlawz rap on the song as well.
“Me, ‘No Vaseline,’ one MC. I love Nas but it’s not,” he quickly segued as the host interjected to inform him of who occupied second place: Nas with “Ether.” “Took out four n-ggas and the manager. I mean, damn! Got to give me credit for that,” he continued. “[The] group was over. I don’t know if they made another record after that. So, nah man. Sorry!”
