Generations and 7de Laan star Adrian Alper dies

Legendary actor Adrian Alper who is famously known for his roles in Generations, 7de Laan and Isidingo has died. Actor Spaces confirms that actor, writer and director Adrian Alper has passed away. The organisation shared the news on their social media accounts on Tuesday, 14 May. Details about how or when the Generations alumni died has not been shared as yet.

TVSA reports that Alper played the role of Lesley Generations between 1993 and 1994) and secured the role of Sharky in Isidingo, in 1999 and again in 2001.

The comedian is also famously known for playing Calvin in the sitcom, Streaks in 1995 and recently portrayed the character of Pastor Gammies in SABC2’s canned soapie, 7de Laan.

Alper also starred in the theatre production, The Coolie Odyssey in 2003. IOL reported at the time that the actor played three different characters in the play.

The late actor told the publication: “I am excited to play three different characters with three different focuses. Not only do you have monkeys telling us about the past, but you also have gods appearing. It’s a powerful play and it reveals how people react in certain situations.

Sowetan reported in 2023 that Alper starred alongside actor Vusi Kunene, Carl Nel, Matie Van Graan in Amazon Prime’s film titled, Seconds. The South African will give an update about his funeral and memorial service as soon as possible.
