Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel have put the past behind them to the point that the former wrestler is getting his own standalone Fast and Furious film.
That’s right; The Rock has confirmed his return to the film franchise as Luke Hobbs after he appeared in a post-credits scene in the recently released Fast X.
“Hobbs is back. And he just got laid,” Johnson announced on Twitter on Thursday. “The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the Hobbs movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for Fast X: Part II.”
Johnson then addressed the longstanding feud between himself and Fast and Furious alpha Vin Diesel, which first surfaced in 2016.
At the time, Johnson said of his male co-stars in an Instagram post: “Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”
While he didn’t mention any names, many assumed he was referring to Vin Diesel which he confirmed in a 2018 Rolling Stone interview.
In 2021, Johnson turned down the offer to reprise his role after Vin Diesel made a public plea for him to return to the franchise for the final installment.
In Thursday’s tweet, the Baywatch actor wrote: “Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters, and fans that we love. I’ve built my career on an ‘Audience First’ mentality, and that will always serve as my North Star.”
