DStv gives access to Beyoncé’s Black Is King to more subscribers

South Africans will be able to watch Beyoncé‘s new visual album, Black Is King a day after its release in the US.

The film will be available for streaming on Disney+ in the US from Friday, 31 July and will be aired on M-Net (DStv 101) on Saturday, 2 August at 20:00.

As a special treat for subscribers of other DStv packages, the MultiChoice Group will open M-Net to DStv Compact Plus, Compact, Family, and Access for two hours.

It will also be available for DStv Premium customers for 30 days on DStv Catch up. The film is based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift and reimagines the lessons from the 2019 blockbuster for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.

Black Is King was in production for one year and features an impressive list of diverse voices on its creative team.

Filmed in various locations, the film’s cinematography captures beautiful people and landscapes across continents, starting in New York, then Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London and Belgium.

Special guests include models Aweng Ade-Chuol and Adut Akech, Naomi Campbell, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and JAY-Z, among others.

Among the well-known local stars featured are Connie Chiume, Nandi Madida, Nyaniso Dzedze and Warren Masemola.
