Shaq Apologizes To Drake For Sharing BBL DRIZZY Meme

Shaquille’ O’Neal recently shared a Drake meme on his social media profile, and he has now made it clear that he wasn’t making fun of the rapper. During an episode of The Big Podcast With Shaq that went live on Friday (June 28), the NBA legend took a moment to set the record clear regarding something he posted on his Instagram Stories earlier this week.

    Shaq

Soundtracked by a rendition of the “BBL Drizzy” jab popularized by Metro Boomin, the image featured the retired athlete holding a woman wearing a bikini — her face, however, had been edited and swapped with that of the 6 God.

“Let me apologize right quick,” the 52-year-old began. “The mistake I made was I should’ve said ‘Who did this?’ […] Listen, Drake has a great sense of humor, so I thought it was funny that they did it.

“Like I saw ‘Shaq’s Trolling’ — no, I’m not trolling. I didn’t Photoshop it; somebody Photoshopped […] I thought it was funny and, hopefully, [Drake] thought it was funny too. But once it went viral, I definitely took it down.”

Listen to the Lakers icon discuss the misunderstanding at the 32:47 mark below:

Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar has put a number of people’s loyalty to the test, and the Canadian superstar seemingly shaded those who’ve left his side in a recent social-media post.

Last week, K.Dot hosted and performed to a sold-out crowd at his “Pop Up” Juneteenth show in Inglewood, California. During said event, the Compton native played a number of his diss tracks aimed at Drizzy, such as “euphoria” and “6:16 in LA.”

The set climaxed with him performing “Not Like Us” five times in a row as the crowd sang along to it word for word. Among the thousands turning up in the crowd was basketball star LeBron James, who has been a close friend and supporter of the Toronto native since the latter broke into the music industry.

Hence, people online are now suspecting that the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker was throwing shade at the 20-time All-Star when he took to his Instagram Stories soon after the gig, posting a mirror selfie in which he could be seen wearing what appears to be a Cleveland Guardians jersey with the words “Summer League” stamped over the image.

This could’ve potentially been a reference to LeBron’s turbulent relationship with the city of Cleveland, where he played for a total of 11 seasons and even won a championship.

His initial stint with the Cavaliers, however, was not successful, as he left after his first seven seasons to join the Miami Heat back in 2010, which is still considered one of the most controversial moves in sports history. He returned for his final four years in the city in 2014 — a tenure that included a championship in the 2015-16 season.

With the official 2023–24 NBA season having wrapped up earlier that week, the Summer League is set to commence next month. Moving forward, it appears that Drake has rethought his allegiances.

Sexyy Red Jokes About How She Gets So Many Drake Features

Sexyy Red and Drake have worked together several times recently, and the Missouri native has now jokingly explained why that is the case. The 26-year-old rapper dropped her new album In Sexyy We Trust with little notice earlier this week, and it features a cameo by the 6 God wherein he spits over Metro Boomin‘s “BBL Drizzy” beat.

Soon after the joint went viral online, one fan joked wrote, and asked her: “Are you fucking Drake for features ?” Without missing a beat or explaining herself, she responded succinctly (and presumably sarcastically): “Yes.”

Drake has taken quite a shine to Sexyy Red since her rise to fame last year, recently referring to her as his guiding light. While sharing photos on Instagram from his It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour with J. Cole and Lil Durk, the Canadian superstar bestowed a special title on his peer.

“Red really my muse in this short and confusing life,” he wrote in the social-media caption. That same month, Sexyy was recruited to play the mother of Drake’s child in the music video for their “Rich Baby Daddy” collaboration from For All the Dogs.

He previously called the St. Louis MC his “rightful wife” when the two linked up at his concert in New York over the summer. A viral photo showed the OVO Sound boss planting a passionate kiss on Sexyy’s cheek as she cozied up to him and caressed his face.

In early April, Joe Budden alleged that Drake was being paid to promote Sexyy Red. On an episode of his eponymous podcast, the former Slaughterhouse rapper offered a theory as to why Drizzy is closely aligning himself with Red.

“Respectfully, it sounds like a n-gga that could rap at that level that gets paid off of everybody’s deal tryna rap. That’s what it sounds like to me,” he said. “Oh, you think he just like being around Sexyy Red that much? … I can name some more people.”

Red issued a short and sweet response, simply writing on X (formerly Twitter): “They so dumb.”

  • Metro Boomin Launches BBL Drizzy Beat Giveaway In Response to Family Matters

Metro Boomin Launches BBL Drizzy Beat Giveaway In Response to Family Matters

Metro Boomin is encouraging fans to get into the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef with a “BBL Drizzy Beat Giveaway” in response to Drizzy’s “Family Matters.”

    Metro Boomin

The St. Louis, MO-born producer took to X (formerly Twitter) early on Sunday (May 5) and asked fans to freestyle over a beat, with the best verse receiving a free Metro Boomin beat.

He wrote: “best verse over this gets a free beat. just upload your song and hashtag #bbldrizzybeatgiveaway.”

Metro’s provocation is in response to Drake’s latest diss, “Family Matters,” on which the 6 God raps: “I mean it’s true a n-gga slimed me for my AP/ Just like how Metro n-gga slimed him for his main squeeze/ Out here beggin’ for attention, n-gga, say please.”

The “Creepin’” producer’s solicitation was only the beginning of her taunts towards Drake. He continued an onslaught of taunts towards Drizzy on X.

He echoed Kendrick Lamar’s taunts on his latest diss, “Not Like Us,” noting that the MC was a colonizer, sharing an old video of Drake talking down on Toronto slang.

    Metro Boomin

He shared another video of Drake saying the n-word, and re-posted it with hashtags: “#wedontwannahearyousaynigganomo
    #colonizer.”

He also shared a video of a person who looks a lot like Drake getting liposuction on his stomach. Metro commented: “I knowwww a n-gga wit lipo scars not tryna call me lame [three crying laughter emojis, three crying emojis].”

The “Superhero” producer also responded to Drake’s allegations on “Family Matters” that Metro’s friend slept with his girlfriend.

He tweeted: “the drum thing was laughable so I let it slide but what we not gon do is spread lies and have my loved ones involved. nobody ever hit my girl n-gga we grew up together [two crying laughter emojis, two crying emojis] she’s a real woman and not even in the industry but I guess #youwouldntknownunboutdatttt.”

Metro also shared receipts of Drake trying to prevent “Like That,” the track from Future, and Metro’s We Don’t Trust You, which kicked off the drama way back in March.

He shared an email and captioned it: “I’m lame but the first week after #LikeThat you tried to block it at the radio. I have been sitting on this email for a month now but was just sparing you. oh, u ain’t #LikeThat record???”

    Metro Boomin

He concluded his taunts by writing: “Now go make another song telling more lies ’cause we both know you can’t tell everyone why I don’t fuck with u.

“that wouldn’t be a good look either for u so imma spare us both with that.”

Kendrick and Drake’s ongoing feud went to a dark place over the weekend when both rappers took shots at each other’s families. With new diss tracks out by each rapper, released an hour apart, the beef entered a new phase.

In the early hours of May 3, K.Dot amped up the rivalry by dropping “6:16 in LA.” A follow-up to “euphoria” from earlier in the week, the cut alleged that people in Drizzy’s own team are praying for his downfall and even leaking information to his adversaries.

Less than an hour after the above track surfaced, Kendrick Lamar posted his rebuttal.

    Metro Boomin

“meet the Grahams” clocks in at roughly six-and-a-half minutes and addresses each member of Drake’s immediate family — Adonis (son), Sandy (mother), and Dennis (father) — in addition to the Toronto MC himself, who is referred to by his real name, Aubrey Graham.

Kendrick didn’t stop there, sharing “Not Like Us” later on Saturday (May 4).
