Rachel Kolisi Wants South African Hair Salons To Be Able To Cater For Different Hair Types

Rachel Kolisi, her kids (Nicholas and Keziah), and her husband Siya’s sister (Liphelo) had their hair done at a salon despite their different hair types. Taking to Instagram, Siya Kolisi’s wife expressed excitement for having all of their hair done at just one salon, as it is usually not her experience. Rachel says she is impressed and urged South African salons to diversify.

“The first time EVER we could all have our hair done at the same place. I forgot to post this a few months ago, but something that I’ve been thinking about for some time, is why so many hair salons in SA specifically, only offer services for “either-or”. We had gone to a few places this day trying to get a haircut for Nic after being told 3 times “We can’t cut hair like that” found a spot where all of our hair was celebrated and my goodness we loved it,” she wrote.

“Generally, just feel salons could do better, and diversify,” she added. Followers affirmed her statement and applauded her perception.

“True story, why advertise you a stylist or hairdresser if you were not able to do all hair type, and why not train up your stylist to be able to do this man, imagine a car machine telling you no I can only work on a ford, or only Toyota, thanks for being real Rachel,” a comment read.

However, a few others slammed her.

“Ah, always something to complain about! Just move get on with and go to a specialist. Would you want your heart surgeon to work on your broken leg??? No!!! It’s not about diversity it’s about …. Speciality.”
