Polo G Borrows JA Rule’s Classic Flow To Roast NBA Player Dillon Brooks In L.A. Leakers Freestyle

Polo G has delivered another freestyle for Justin Credible’s radio show, and the Chicago rapper used the platform to bag on Memphis Grizzlies player Dillon Brooks over Ja Rule‘s “New York.”

The Chicago rapper stopped by Power 106 on Tuesday (June 13) as he readies to heat up the summer with an album. The 24-year-old’s jab at Dillon Brooks caught fire on social media as the clip has circulated online.

“If he a lame like Dillon Brooks, I take him straight off the roster,” he raps over the cinematic Cool N Dre production.

Watch the freestyle below:

Brooks embraces his role of the villain but he came up embarrassingly small in the Grizzlies playoff series loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Following the team’s game 2 wins to even the series at 1-1, the forward called out LeBron James while referring to him as “old” and “tired” while explaining the King would have to earn his respect.

“I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40 [points],” he said.

That didn’t work out well for the 27-year-old as the Grizzlies were defeated by the seventh-seeded Lakers in six games as Brooks shot 31 percent from the field and averaged a measly 10 points per game.

Brooks, an impending free agent this summer, reportedly won’t be back with the Grizzlies next season “under any circumstances,” per The Athletic‘s Shams Charania.

Polo G has long made his love for New York known. In addition to name-dropping The LOX and DMX’s hometown of Yonkers in this freestyle, his last stop to the L.A. Leakers show in 2021 saw him rhyming over X’s “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” ahead of the arrival of his Hall of Fame album.

“Just trying to be different,” Polo G told Justin Credible of why he chose the Ja Rule anthem this time around. “I fuck with New York though. I love New York.”

Ja Rule’s “New York” features fellow New Yorkers, Fat Joe and Jadakiss. The track can be heard on Ja’s 2004 album R.U.L.E., which peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100.
