Moonchild Sanelly back with a brand new track Scrambled Eggs

Moonchild Sanelly, the pioneering South African musician and artist, has returned with her latest track, “Scrambled Eggs,” available now! You can watch the video HERE and listen HERE.

Produced by Johan Hugo (known for his work with Self Esteem, Miguel, and M.I.A), “Scrambled Eggs” serves as the lead single from Moonchild’s upcoming studio album, set to be unveiled later this year. It marks a triumphant comeback for the boundary-breaking performer, whose distinctive “future-ghetto-funk” sound has propelled her to international acclaim. Over the years, she has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, from Beyoncé to Gorillaz, showcasing her versatility and artistic vision. With two critically acclaimed solo albums already under her belt—Rabulapha! (2015) and Phases (2022)—Moonchild continues to push artistic boundaries with each new release.

Speaking about “Scrambled Eggs,” Moonchild shares her inspiration: “When I started staying in the GOOD hotels, I noticed how the world is obsessed with avo and eggs for breakfast. It became a thing… you get avo & eggs for breakfast at the good places.” She adds, “My writing recently has been me at my most humble, and Scrambled Eggs is me reminding everyone – by the way, I AM that bitch! I’m a multi-passport artist travelling the world in custom designs and doing it all on my terms. And I’m really f**king proud of that.”

Directed by Jabu Nadia Newman and filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa, the “Scrambled Eggs” video is a high-energy, carefree celebration, highlighting female-led entrepreneurship. Styled by Chloe Andrea Welgemoed and featuring costumes by South African designers Siyababa and Sihle Masango, the video captures Johannesburg’s vibrant spirit and playful aesthetic.

Reflecting on the video, Moonchild remarks, “The Scrambled Eggs video marks my arrival at the beginning. It’s the beginning of being in THAT space; this new world that this crazy, amazing, powerful, beautiful gang of absolute muthafuckers built together. This world contains everything I’ve ever worked for… These are my people, and this is our superhero moment.”

Fans can catch Moonchild Sanelly live on tour this summer, with UK festival dates including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Green Man, and Jazz Café Festival.
