Megan Thee Stallion has been largely inactive as a recording artist for almost a year now, but that might change soon. On Sunday (July 23), the “WAP” hitmaker posted an Instagram Story boomerang of herself in the studio. The brief clip was captioned: “I’m back in that mode It’s that time [devil emoji].”
Though no further details have been revealed yet, the Houston native seems to be back in her zone and on the path to giving fans new material. Her last album, Traumazine, was released in 2022, though she has since performed at multiple festivals and even hosted solo concerts.

In early July, the Houston Hottie took the stage at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. She made her way over to NOLA for her performance and made sure to have her booty out as she twerked to some of her biggest hits including “Simon Says.”
“I’m ready to eat. I’m ready to shake my ass,” Meg said as she hit the stage. “I’m ready to turn up at the muthafuckin’ Essence Festival!
“Okay now ladies, is y’all ready to pop y’all shit right quick? Because like, it’s muthafuckin’ hot girl summer. We not giving n-ggas no second chances! We getting real disrespectful right now.”
She continued: “We feel ourselves, we loving on ourselves. And just to let you n-ggas know – we don’t need y’all. We want y’all, but we don’t need y’all!”
In footage of the performance, Megan Thee Stallion encouraged the contestants to give it their all, while Janelle Monáe, who was standing to the side of the stage, cheered them on.
India. Arie caught wind of the video and wasn’t a fan of what she saw, saying that although she has no issues with either woman, she didn’t like what their actions represent for the greater audience that was paying attention.
“I LOVE Janelle AND Meg the way I love us all ~ AND I don’t like this moment. Don’t bother debating me lol idc and I DO this. for 25 yrs I’ve done THIS. so. read ponder or don’t,” she wrote on social media.
She subsequently doubled down on her stance that the event doesn’t send the right message but clarified that there is no ill will behind what she said.
