Makhadzi denies benefitting R230 000 from the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture

Makhadzi released a statement against the claim that she was paid R230,000 by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

The department spokesperson, Zimasa Velaphi said they have been supporting Makhadzi over the past 14 months.DSAC strongly rejects the assertion that it has not supported Makhadzi. Over the past 14 months, Makhadzi has been booked by DSAC to perform in several national engagements, receiving as much as 230 000 rands,’ Velaphi said.

“The department commits to continuing to support creatives through various opportunities and to taking their talents to communities locally and internationally,” Velaphi added.

Makhadzi released an official statement where she explained her side of the story and claimed that the DSCA claims are deceiving.

“We can confirm that the department contacted Makhadzi to perform for the June 16 event and Presidential Inauguration which she did (rendered service) and the department paid her, that is not funding but a payment for service.
