Ice Cube has once again addressed his long-running feud with Mack 10, claiming that his former Westside Connection groupmate committed “a violation that can’t be overlooked.” The West Coast rap legend continued his “Fuck the Gatekeepers Podcast Tour” on Wednesday (July 26) by appearing as a guest on Cam’ron and Ma$e’s sports talk show It Is What It Is.

While sports — including the David and Goliath-esque war between Cube’s BIG3 basketball league and the NBA — were the focus of the episode, Cam also took the opportunity to ask Cube if Westside Connection is still together, noting that he often sees him out and about with WC but never Mack 10.

“Nah, we don’t get down like that,” the former N.W.A member replied. “It’s just me and Dub. Me and Dub, we from the same neighborhood, we grew up right around the corner from each other, so we’ve always been down since day one.”

He added: “I’m just happy he’s still hanging out and going out — he’s his own artist, but he still goes out with me [at shows]. We’ve been all over the world together so it’s a great thing.”

The Harlem-bred host then quizzed Cube directly about his relationship with Mack.

“Yeah, it’s a problem,” he answered. “It’s a thing where… it’s just a violation that can’t be overlooked.”

While Ice Cube didn’t get into specifics, Mack 10 previously said that Westside Connection’s mid-2000s split stemmed from him getting into an altercation with Cube’s brother-in-law, who he accused of meddling with the group’s affairs.

“It was just an unfortunate situation, as far as what came out of all that,” Mack told VladTV in 2020. “It ain’t like that just happened … I went to Cube about four or five times before the conflict jumped off and told him to correct the situation. That’s the part that everybody leaves out.”

He continued: “If it was my wife’s brother, I would’ve told him he can’t fuck my money up and he can’t be out of line with nobody I’m getting down with. And if you got that big of a problem with him, stay at home. My wife’s brother wouldn’t have stopped shit for me, with him.”

Mack clarified that his and Cube’s disagreement didn’t escalate beyond a verbal argument, saying: “I and Cube didn’t have no fight or nothing like that. We had an argument, but okay, I thought that was it.”

That would be one of the last times that Ice Cube and Mack 10 would speak, with the Hoo-Bangin’ Records founder recently revealing that he hasn’t seen or talked to his former collaborator “in damn near 20 years.”

Cube was asked about Mack’s comments during an appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier this month and alluded to there being more to the story. “Of course he [wants to tell his side of the story],” he said. “I don’t wanna talk about it, to be honest, because he knows what it is.”

The South Central native also shut down hopes of Westside Connection reuniting for a new album, declaring: “I don’t wanna do another Westside Connection.”

WC also recently addressed the status of the group and offered fans a slither of hope that one day they’ll see him, Cube, and Mack together again.

“There could be [a reunion], if things get worked out between Cube and Mack, he told TMZ. “It’s called real life, though. Music is one thing, but real life behind the music is another. If there’s no gellin,’ y’know, there’s no music.”
