Musician Gigi Lamayne – real name Genesis Gabriella Tina Manney – has announced the sad passing of her boyfriend, rapper Liberty Mike “YBK” Mhlanga. The Menzi Ngubane rapper – who unveiled her partner a few weeks ago – took to her Instagram on Tuesday, 15 August, to announce that YBK had passed.
A statement she shared by the family read: “It is with great sorrow that the Mhlanga family is here to announce the passing of their son, Liberty Mike Mhlanga aka ‘YBK’ . Please keep the Mhlanga family in your prayers.”
It is currently not clear when YBK – also known as YBK Vision – passed away. However, Gigi had announced the news on her Instagram on Monday, 14 August. She later deleted the post as the family had not made a public announcement.
“Forever you my babe. Forever us. @ybkvision. We had our whole lives ahead of us. I’m in pain, Liberty. We were so close to writing this story. Your last post … could you feel it somehow? We were grown and ready. Why, God. Mina Angsazi. Let your will be done,” she captioned her post. The 29-year-old old Love and Hip Hop SA star also paid tribute to her partner and shared their plans to start a church.
“Our plans were to start a church. Through our past experiences, teach people about God. We had given our lives to God, denounced the world. You had big plans. Oksalayo you were happy. I hope you are happier in heaven,” Gigi Lamayne wrote. She continued: ” You were surrounded by love… lots of it
