Chris Brown Announces New Music Coming This Summer

Chris Brown may be dropping music very soon. The Grammy winner recently went to Instagram to share updates on his plans for future music.

“IF YALL THOUGHT I WASN’T GONNA DROP A SINGLE FOR THE SUMMER … THINK AGAIN,” Brown wrote in a now-deleted Instagram story for a note in create mode.

Brown did not offer an official release date for the untitled song at this time. However, he kept the anticipation going for his return in another post.

“New music? JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF MAGIC TO DIGEST,” Brown wrote in a now-edited caption for an animated photo of himself.

Brown previously wrote to his over 140 million followers that he’s been in the studio and plans to reveal the title of his 11th studio album soon. He also promised to no longer subscribe to albums containing between 20 and 40 songs.

Hitmaka commented under the post with a hint that indicates he’s involved in the single. “Uh oh!!!!!! It’s that time again!” he wrote.

That’s not all. Hitmaka then took to his Instagram Stories to repost Brown’s post and further tease his involvement in Brown’s impending single.

Hitmaka is no stranger to working with Brown. They worked heavily together on Brown’s Indigo (Deluxe) and its standard edition, namely on songs “Come Together” featuring H.E.R. and “Sorry Enough.” The former track was certified gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 equivalent units.

In February, Hitmaka and Cardiak co-produced Chlöe’s “How Does It Feel,” on which Brown is featured. The song appears on Chlöe’s debut album, In Pieces.

Brown’s next single will mark his first proper single since last year’s “Call Me Every Day.” The gold-selling, Wizkid-assisted track, co-produced by Blaise Beatz and RoccStar, served as his final single from his Breezy album cycle.

“Call Me Every Day” hit No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart and No. 8 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It also peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It won Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary) at the 54th NAACP Image Awards, where Brown also took home Outstanding Male Artist.

His previous Breezy singles included the bedroom anthem “WE (Warm Embrace)” and boastful bop “Iffy.”

Brown’s tenth album, Breezy, earned him acclaim since releasing June 24, 2022, via his Chris Brown Entertainment imprint, in partnership with RCA Records. He was presented with Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards.

Before Rated R&B plugged Breezy on its year-end albums list, the Recording Academy nominated Breezy (Deluxe) for Best R&B Album at the 65th Grammy Awards.

With that Grammy nod, Brown became the first male artist to have a deluxe version of a previously released album nominated for Best R&B Album. He ultimately did not win the trophy, as the award was given to Robert Glasper’s Black Radio III.

In late summer 2022, Brown received a victory lap for his 2019 song, “Under the Influence.” The song, lifted from his Indigo (Extended), became his 13th No. 1 single on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart.

“Under the Influence” instantly went platinum following its resurgence and eventually topped urban radio.

After that, Brown hit the road for an extended tour named after the popular song, selling out venues in the U.K. and European territories.

More recently, Brown collected his fourth No. 1 song on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart with his feature on Tank’s “See Through Love.”
