Former Uzalo actress Nompilo Maphumulo has joined Generations: The Legacy. The actress recently left SABC1 popular sudser Uzalo and she has now found greener pastures.

“Generations: The Legacy wishes to extend a warm welcome to Nompilo Maphumulo. She will play the role of Buhle, an old connection of Mrekza’s who comes bearing a life-changing reminder of his past. She will be on air from June 13 and viewers can look forward to Nompilo’s easy charm warming our screens at the usual 8 pm slot.”

Earlier this week, the actress had hinted at joining the show after she shared a picture of herself at what looked like the Generations set. Her fans speculated that she had joined the show, but she did not confirm nor deny the rumors.

The actress debunked claims that she was expecting a bundle of joy in real life in late 2022. In Uzalo, her character Nosipho was pregnant with Mondli’s baby and engaged to Pastor Gwala.

“I think the fake tummy that I’m wearing on set looks real and I portray a role of a pregnant woman well. That’s why people think I’m really pregnant. I’m very much not pregnant. There’s no bun in the oven here,” she told Daily Sun

Speaking about her departure she said: “Uzalo released me because it was time for me to leave. I’m the luckiest actress. If I’m not mistaken, we are less than five actors who started when Uzalo debuted on TV screens in 2015. So, everyone has their time. I had my time and it was a wonderful experience. I worked with a wonderful crew and learned a lot about acting. Now it’s my time to bow out.”

In a statement, Stained Glass Production said “As we look back at Nompilo’s portrayal of Nosipho, the viewers have seen her fight with Nkunzi over her Father’s estate, making Nkunzi her enemy and almost being buried alive. She has fallen in love over the years with a ruthless criminal called Amos, a quick stint with Mondli, abusive Njeza, and finally finding her Prince Charming in Pastor Gwala. She is business minded and became the Mashonisa of Kwa-Mashu and opened a business hub that created opportunities.
