NGEZILE Mngadi has kept her promise of keeping her virg!nity until she got married.
The 49-year-old v!rgin tied the knot with Mandlakayise Mbonambi (56) in KwaNgcolosi, west of Durban on Saturday, 9 October.
And this has inspired other maidens to hold onto their virg!nity until they get married.
Maiden Scelile Nzuza (18) said: “These days it’s very rare to find such inspiration. Many start small and fall off along the journey. They get pregnant before marriage or allow men to have s.e.x with them without even paying lobola for them. So we’re inspired when we get to witness this kind of purity.”
There was traditional dancing during the wedding celebration, where Ngezile was joined by other maidens.
She asked that the maidens undergo virg!nity testing first and they were tested on the spot. She said she wanted to make sure she had the companionship of pure maidens.
“I am happy that this day, which I dreamt about all my life, finally happened. It excites me that I tied the knot while I am still a virg!n.
“Many walk this journey and fall off along the way. I feel honoured I lived up to my promise. I encourage other young women not to get involved in s.e.x until they get married,” said Ngezile.
Mandlakayise said it felt like a dream that he finally got to tie the knot with Ngezile after so many years.
“I have been praying and pleading with my ancestors that they keep us until we see this day. I am happy all my prayers were answered. Ngezile will now walk into the Mbonambi family as an official wife,” he said.
Despite their age, the couple hopes to have at least one child together.
Ngezile joins the Mbonambi family as a second wife.
Mandlakayise’s first wife, Nomthandazo (40) previously told Daily Sun she didn’t have a problem with Ngezile becoming a second wife.
She said they have a sisterhood as Ngezile was respectful, loved her kids and they even trusted each other with their secrets.
She said she allowed her husband to take a second wife because he was honest with her from the beginning.
Ngezile’s sister Gabi Mkhize (57) said they were proud of her and her husband.
“She made this promise to herself while she was still a teenager and she lived up to it. We never thought she would hold on.
“We also thank her husband for giving her support and did not drive her to break the promise she made to herself. In him, we witnessed we still have real men who respect the wishes of their partners,” said Gabi.
The wedding celebration continued on Sunday, 10 October, where Ngezile showered the Mbonambi family with gifts.
