IdolsSA and Metro FM presenter Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung celebrates as he has reached 3 million followers on Instagram.
Somizi’s Instagram is his playground to connect with his fans, there is nothing you can not find, from cooking lessons to anything that can keep people sane in this Covid-19 Lockdown phase.
Somizi and Mohale recently started the Somhale Foundation which is aimed at helping people during this Lockdown which was extended with two more weeks until the end of April.
Newlyweds Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung and Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo have donated R200 000 in food vouchers to 50 destitute families over the Easter weekend.
Somizi joins some of Mzansi celebrities who are already in the 3 million marks, the likes of Boity who has 3.7 million followers, Bonang Matheba with 3.6 million followers, Minnie Dlamini also at 3.6 million followers, DJ Zinhle with 3.1 million followers and Nomzamo Mbatha with 3 million followers.
Somizi shared the news about his 3 million followers with a picture of himself holding his limited edition GH Mumm champagne bottle.
The news came at a perfect time especially hours before President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that SA’s Covid-19 lockdown would be extended until the end of April, Somizi had said in an Instagram video that Mbalula had given him a heads-up about the extension.
Somizi apologised to Mbalula in a video for his “joke”, saying: “I’m just like you, I did not know about it. I was just guessing. Police spokesperson Brig Vish Naidoo said Mhlongo reported to the Sandton police station at the weekend.
He was charged and released on R1,500 bail at Sandton police station, pending a court appearance. Mbalula confirmed on his Twitter page that Mhlongo had been arrested. He was responding to a question from a follower.

While on an interview with his friend Bishop Noel Jones, the radio DJ expressed that he lost his close American friend early morning on Thursday. Touch has since pleaded with the public to take the lockdown period and overall hygiene serious as the Coronavirus is a serious epidemic. read more
