Speaking to the publication, his sister Khanyisa said the family was devastated.
“We are still trying to come to terms with everything. We are heartbroken, although he has been sick for a while,” she said.
“He was in and out of hospital but this was the last thing we expected. As a family, we had hopes that he would recover.”
Khanyisa described Letlalo, who was formerly a drama teacher and voice actor on several Thobela FM dramas, as a kind and loving man.
“He was loved by almost everyone in the community and his passing has cut deep. Although he was retired, he was still very active in helping the youngsters in the community, shaping them and teaching them,” she said.
Khanyisa said her brother will be laid to rest in his hometown of Polokwane, Limpopo, on Wednesday, 15 September.
“We will be observing all the Covid-19 protocols and we have kept everything intimate.
“Those who want to be part of the service and say farewell to him can join us through live streaming,” she said.
Letlalo died on Friday, 10 September. The news left viewers of the popular soapie Skeem Saam very sad as the show had lost a number of cast members since the start of 2021. His death came just months after fans said goodbye to Nokuzola Mlengana, who played the popular character Sis’ Ouma.
