BET Award Winner Sha Sha To Headline The Shoko Festival
BET award-winning artist Sha Sha is billed to headline the prestigious Shoko Festival. The 10th edition of the festival kicked off on September 21 and it will end on 27 September.
This years festival theme is dubbed “The Phoenix Edition,” and due to the lockdown restrictions, it will be streamed live on Facebook, featuring some of the country’s most talented artists.
“This year’s theme of ‘The Phoenix Edition’ is about using arts for Zimbabwe to rise from the ashes in these uncertain times of Covid and Lockdown. Shoko 2020 is about inspiring Zimbabweans to rise like the proverbial bird after a time of chaos. This year’s Shoko will feature trailblazing virtual innovations and cutting edge digital programming.”
“The festival, which is entering its 10th edition, will deliver an incredible and unique iteration during these socially distanced times. Shoko 2020 will feature a week-long Hub Unconference #DigitalMediaWeek , Bang Bang Comedy Game Show, Peace in the Hood concert, the Battle of The Cities Digital Poetry Slam, Mash-Up Night, Top Comedian Battle, Voice 2 Rep Competition, #ZimbabweanLivesMatter Cypher, Mvenge Mvenge 2.0 and some of the most innovative live performances of Lockdown!.” reads a statement.
The festival will feature much-anticipated performances from popular urban acts like Poptain, Jah Master, Natasha Muz, Anita Jaxson, Pro Beatz, and many more local acts.
Speaking to The Chronicle recently, the festival director Comrade Fatso said this year they went all out.
“Shoko 2020 is going to be such a vibe! We have such an exciting line-up of cutting-edge urban performances; hilarious comedy shows and unique curated events that will really push the boundaries of what’s possible in Zimbabwean entertainment! This week we will rise like the Phoenix with humour, creativity and positive energy!”
Sha Sha recently bagged her first BET award, and her career highlights are nothing short of amazing. The musician has been able to build a successful music career in SA.
Sha Sha has become a fan-favourite in the country as every Amapiano song which features her vocals become an instant hit for many music lovers across the world.
The singer is signed under DJ Maphorisa’s record label, and has worked with numerous artists in the genre including Kabza, Lord Phorry and MFR Souls to name just but a few. Her album Blossom proved to many that she might just be the voice of Amapiano.
