For most of the guys, they will be the ones responsible for choosing the time and place for the first date. This is extremely important because this is the second “first impression.” The venue you choose will affect how she views your tastes, personality and perhaps even your financial situation.
This list will help you choose places NOT to take your date, so if any of these places cross your mind, do yourself a favor and avoid them.
1. Fast food restaurant
Fast food restaurants may, at first thought, not seem like that bad of a place. They’re not really. And once you’ve actually dated someone for a while, it’s fine to hit up a McDonald’s. But your goal on the first date is to impress, and fast food is cheap, quick and loud. It’s not the place to have a nice conversation under a romantic setting, because kids will be screaming in the play corner while their parents argue with an employee that got their order wrong.
Most women would love to pig out on fast food with their boyfriend in their pajamas. But if you’re on a first date, you’re not her boyfriend yet.
2. Breastaurants
This should be obvious for so many reasons. One, you want to give your date all the attention. If she is in a place where there are tons of other girls, and you accidentally stare at one for too long, then you might as well ask for the bill because in her head, she’s done with you.
Second, when you’re in a place with scantily clad women, it could make your date feel uncomfortable. No matter what, you should take your date to a place where she feels comfortable and relaxed the entire time. Remember, the more comfortable and relaxed you are the more likely you two are to hit it off.
3. LAN party
Many of you may not know what this is unless you’re in the gaming scene. A LAN party is a group of gamers who gather to play a video game in the same room. The consoles are either connected on the same network or to each other via Ethernet cords.
This is a terrible place for a first date. Your attention will be on the video game and your friends. In this scenario, you are not spending quality time with each other, so you won’t get to know one another or have any privacy to talk. A first date should not be about you and your interests with little consideration for what she may want — which is to spend time with you if she agreed to the date.
4. Wedding
A wedding is a tricky place for a first date. This kind of situation may put her under more of the spotlight that she may be comfortable with. Meeting family members should be done further down the line after establishing a serious relationship. She’ll receive a bombardment of questions from different relatives and more stress than she should have to handle before she even decides if she likes you.
You might also accidentally take attention away from the bridge and groom, because you decided to bring a date. That’s not to say a wedding on a first date has never worked out, but it may be a lot more awkward than you realize.
5. Your house or apartment
Nothing says, “I put no effort into this date” like asking her to come over your house. When you tell her to come over your house for the first date, it says a lot about who you are and what your plans were. You are putting zero effort in figuring out something to do. By inviting her over, you did not plan for romance.
It also looks very creepy and suspicious — like something out of a horror movie. It also comes across like you’re expecting something sexual. It also sends the completely wrong message to your date. Get dressed, pick her up and take her somewhere nice. She deserves it.
