The past week had been one of the most difficult weeks in Mzansi, a week others would say have been covered by a dark cloud. Social media, Twitter especially have been on a low with so many RIP’s. This past week, Mzansi lost Dr Sindi Van Zyl who succumbed to Covid-19 after being a hospital since February. Not only that; at the weekend rapper, AKA lost his fiancé Nellie Tembe after she fell off the 10th floor of the building in Cape Town in the early hours Sunday, April 11.
Tributes came in pouring for Dr Sindi and Nellie, however, what made Dr Sindi’s passing final was her Twitter page tweeting tor the last time. In a thread, the page tweeted, “The Dutchess of Healing, Dr Sindi Van Zyl, is now truly at rest. Dr. Sindi passed away on Saturday morning, the 10th April 2021. She has been a beacon of love and light, a beautiful soul who loved and gave endlessly with grace and kindness.
She modelled the love and grace that she knew in Jesus. The family humbly thank everyone who stood together with them recently to help raise funds for Sindi’s hospital bill, as well as in prayer, love and support. She leaves behind her dear husband Marinus and beautiful kids, Nandi and Manie. She also leaves behind an incredible legacy in the medical support and advice she offered to those around her.
A Foundation to continue to support the causes that Sindi so passionately believed in and lived out will be announced in due course. Sindi requested that we don’t post any personal goodbye messages she sent to those close to her. The one thing she prided herself with was that people from anywhere and everywhere were able to share their deepest thoughts with her. We are deeply thankful for all the personal messages of love and support. With love, The Van Zyl Family”.
Her followers kept sending their tributes, some were even sad by the fact Dr Sindi sent goodbye messages to her family and close friends. See more comments from Twitter:
It’s the finality of it all, plus the heart aching that it was her on the other end.

About a week ago Dr Sindi was lying on a bed of hope. Her family pleaded with everyone to help them raise R2 Million for Dr Sindi’s medical bills. The hashtag #GiftSindLife was trending as South Africans responded to the call, however, things turned out differently.
Dr Sindi has been described as a loving person who cared for other people whether she knew them personally or not. She was a selfless person and many of her followers on Twitter are happy that they lived to witness her kindness and humanity.
