WATCH | Cape Town’s Belinda Davids gets another standing ovation on Britain’s Got Talent
South Africa’s Belinda Davids received yet another standing ovation from Britain’s Got Talent judges with a rendition of Whitney Houston’s I have Nothing on Saturday.
This week’s semi-finalists performed in front of returning judging panel David Walliams, Ashley Banjo, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden – as well as a virtual audience watching from home.
43-year-old Belinda, who has travelled the world as Whitney Houston tribute artist, first wowed the judges during the theatre audition round with a cover of One Moment in Time.
“I’m just so blown away. That hit me, right down to my soul. It was passionate, soulful, pure and incredible,” said Ashley. David added: “It was absolutely electric from start to finish.”
Amanda called the performance “utterly spellbinding and so strong.”
Two contestants from each round of semi-finals, one judges choice, and another chosen by the viewers – will advance to the finals next month.
The winner of the competition will walk away with £250,000 (R5 510 403) and place on the Royal Variety Performance line-up. At last year’s performance, Prince William and Kate were seated in the audience.
