Following Kamo Mphela’s fire performance at the United Kingdom, Mzansi shifted the attention to newly wed Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo. Social media users are convinced that Babes Wodumo fell off and Kamo is the hottest act currently. There was a time where the Gqom superstar was the talk of the town and was the hottest act to even exist. But that does not mean Babes “fell off”, as her latest album Idandokazi went platinum.
Fans feel as though Babes Wodumo would be very far in life had she not decided to settle down and have a kid. Trolls even mocked her marriage to Mampintsha, mainly because he admitted to abusing her on their reality show. Babes has put all of that in the past, but her former fans have not and they still want the best for her.
Mama kaSpontshi became a trending topic ever since that clip of Kamo’s performance went viral. In response to that, Babes threw a bit of shade and pointed at her accolade, reminding people of who she is and where she started from. She and a group of women laughed at the trolls and told them that she has been dragged for a long time in the industry but she is still standing.
Babes was throwing shade, but not at Kamo Mphela. In fact on Facebook she gave sis her flowers. A very mature thing to do! Babes probably understands that she and Kamo might have a lot in common, but they are running their own race, in their own pace and that it is not a competition.
She said she is proud of Kamo Mphela and wants her star to continue shining bright. She accompanied the sweet message with a video of the two of them dancing and having the time of their lives.
Babes Wodumo was trending again this week after a video of her screaming hysterically with the police surrounding her went viral. People thought that she was in danger and was probably intoxicated. The police are seen urging her to get inside the vehicle but she kept on screaming for help.
The user who shared the video goes by the handle @ky_bizana wrote, “Heartbroken after seeing @BABESWODUMO this drunk in Westville this weekend, cops tried to help but she kept screaming help.”
Babes poured cold water to those claims and said she was shooting a music video. She and her manager both revealed this and told people to relax as it was all just an act.
“Guys relaxani, it was during a music video shoot, title of the song “Asiwona amaPhoyisa, Saba Layikhaya,” she wrote on Facebook and switched her comments off.

Kamo Mphela calls out Drake on Twitter, saying she needs to speak with him. The reason for such a statement wasn’t clearly stated, but there seems to be an in-between the line message. Weeks ago, Cassper Nyovest opened up in an interview that Drake and few other international stars are hitting on the young amapiano star. He claimed to have said this to Kamo, in other to make her realise that. Learn more
