Vukile Tembe says his beloved baby sister Anele “Nelli” Tembe and mother Lulu Tembe didn’t commit suicide. His sister, who was engaged to AKA at the time had been staying at Cape Town’s Pepperclub Hotel when she plunged to her death from the 10th floor in April 2021. Vukile Tembe says their mother Lulu fell ill and died, and his sister Anele “Nelli” Tembe didn’t commit suicide.

Vukile tells You that he wants to set the record straight as there’s been talk that their mother Lulu Tembe also took her own life.

“There are several rumours on social media Nelli committed suicide I am simply not entertaining them,” he says. “My mother didn’t commit suicide – she got ill and passed away. The migraines people are referencing was a symptom of the illness she had.”

The 31-year-old adds that the Tembe family are fed up with the speculations about his mother and sister’s deaths. News24 reported their father Moses Tembe also strongly denied rumours his daughter had committed suicide at her funeral.

Businessman Moses Tembe later married Princess Ntandoyesizwe, the daughter of the late Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini, after Lulu Temebe’s passing. Vukile tells the publication that his sister Nelli needed more nurturing from a young age, was a daddy’s girl and career driven.

“My dad spoilt her. Anele had always needed much more attention and as siblings, we were fine with it because maybe she needed it. She was vibrant and focused.
Vukile Tembe also tells You that his sister Anele “Nelli” Tembe wanted to open a restaurant and before she began her journey with her marriage to Kiernan “AKA” Forbes it was his responsibility to take care of her.

“Before she started her journey with her marriage it was my responsibility as a big brother to take care of her. If she needed a new dress or money to do something, I’d play a part in that,” he tells us. “When I found out my sister was getting married, I wanted the best for her.”

He also reveals that he hoped to be an uncle to her children and one day open her Michelin-star restaurant, just like she had planned.

According to You, the last time he saw his sister Nelli was when he picked her up at King Shaka International Airport, three weeks before she passed. Vukile prefers to remember his sister as a bubbly, happy person who had a whole life ahead of her.
