Chidimma Adetshina and her mother’s IDs and passports set to be taken away for investigations

Chidimma Adetshina

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that they’ve issued Promotion of Administrative Justice Act letters to both Chidimma Adetshina and her mother, who is said to be a Mozambican. This comes after ActionSA demanded answers from Home Affairs asking how the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria and her mother travelled to Nigeria whilst being investigated in South Africa.

Home Affairs spokesperson, Duwayne Esau, explained that the Hawks have taken over the investigation, while Home Affairs issued Promotion of Administrative Justice Act letters to both Adetshina and her mother. “This step is a step before the IDs and passports can be retrieved. The owners of these documents can use them until they have been withdrawn by the department,” he said. Adetshina won the Miss Universe Nigeria over the weekend, representing Taraba State, where her father is allegedly originally from.

She entered the beauty pageant after withdrawing from Miss SA amid investigations on her citizenship. After being crowned, she wrote on her Instagram: “I want to dedicate this crown to God Almighty, who has been my strength through every trial and triumph.” Adetshina will represent Nigeria at the international Miss Universe competition in November.
