Drake Has Fans Wondering If He’s Taking Shots At Former Friends In Latest Post

Drake

Drake‘s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar has put several people’s loyalty to the test, and the Canadian superstar has now seemingly shaded those who’ve left his side as the conflict persists.

On Wednesday (June 19), K. Dot hosted and performed to a sold-out crowd at his “Pop Up” Juneteenth show in Inglewood, California. During his event, the Compton native played a number of his diss tracks aimed at Drizzy, such as “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA.”

The set climaxed with him playing “Not Like Us” five times in a row as the crowd sang along to it word for word — among the thousands turning up in the crowd was basketball star LeBron James, who has been a close friend and supporter of the 6 God since the latter broke into the music industry.

Hence, people online now suspect that the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker was throwing shade at the 20-time All-Star when he took to his Instagram Stories soon after the gig. Drake posted a mirror selfie in which he could be seen wearing what appears to be a Cleveland Guardians jersey with the words “Summer League” stamped over the image.

This could potentially be a reference to LeBron’s turbulent relationship with the city of Cleveland, where he played for 11 seasons and even won a championship. His stint with the Cavaliers, however, was not successive as he left after his first seven season to join the Miami Heat back in 2010 — which is still considered one of the most controversial moves in sports history as it cast doubt on his fidelity.

With the official 2023–24 NBA season having wrapped up earlier this week, the Summer League is set to commence next month. Moving forward, it appears that the Toronto native has rethought his allegiances.

Just last year, Drake recalled how much he appreciated King James’ support during his formative years in the rap game.

Prior to his show at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles last year, he was escorted through the crowd by the four-time league MVP and his son Bronny.

“I don’t know if you saw who walked me to the stage tonight, but the gentleman who walked me to the stage tonight is my brother — he goes by the name of LeBron James,” the Grammy winner told the crowd.

“And in 2009, when nobody believed in anything I had going on, that same guy showed up to a release party for a mixtape that was called So Far Gone.”

Referring to the 39-year-old’s current run with the LA Lakers, he continued: “He came all the way to Toronto, Canada to support me when I was trying to figure out how I would live my dreams. So tonight, however many years later, it’s an honor to be inside his building while we’re both still on this earth. I gotta do this building justice tonight.”

In Other News – The Weeknd Makes History With 7 RIAA Diamond Certifications

The Weeknd has once again made history, now becoming the first Canadian artist to score a whopping seven Diamond certifications from the RIAA – as well as becoming the only third artist to do so overall. The feat was achieved the week of June 17 thanks to the songs “Save Your Tears” and “Die For You.” joining the list of his records that have achieved Diamond status. Only Post Malone and Rihanna are in the 7+ Diamond record club with him.

He also received a few other plaques in the process, as two of his 2023 hits, “Popular” with Madonna and Playboi Carti and “One of the Girls” with JENNIE and Lily-Rose Depp, went platinum. This made for the first-ever platinum record for Depp (who The Weeknd co-starred with in the since-canceled HBO series The Idol), as well as JENNIE. Read more
