Shauwn Mkhize releases statement on talks of Royal AM sale

Businesswoman and reality TV star Shauwn Mkhize has responded following claims she is selling her DStv Premiership club, Royal AM.

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) football side are not having the best of seasons so far as they are in 14th place on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table with 11 points after 11 matches. Thwihli Thwahla are also serving a FIFA transfer ban after unfairly dismissing striker Samir Nurkovic – whom they ordered to pay R12 million. In a statement this week, MaMkhize admitted that the club has not had a good start to the season. She however, dismissed reports that the club is up for sale.

“Since the start of the new season, the team has been experiencing mixed fortunes in the field of play. As a matter of fact, it is safe to say, that this season has been the most unpredictable in terms of results by far,” she said in a lengthy statement directed to the fans.

She continued: “In everything that we do, we strive to do better and [to] be better, we know very well that we cannot achieve such without your continuous backing, it is for this reason that we humble ourselves before and request your support from all of you across the city and the district.

“I would like to take this opportunity to state that despite the rumours and gossip that are making the rounds on social media, Royal AM is not for sale. We made a commitment to the people of Pietermaritzburg, through our partnership with the people of Msunduzi Municipality, which we value, cherish and respect. We can all rest assured that Royal AM is here to stay and prosper, ” MaMkhize said.
