Doja Cat‘s return to rap is upon us, and the Los Angeles native has given fans a peek at what to expect with an eerie video teaser for her new single, “Attention.”
In a snippet posted to social media on Wednesday (June 14) ahead of its June 16 release, Doja can be seen strutting through a crowd of screaming people with distorted faces as she raps: “Look at me, look at me/ You lookin’?”
Though the beat is muffled, the hard-hitting boom-bap sound can still be heard. In her caption, Doja included just a single blood droplet emoji.

“Attention” is set to be the lead single from Doja Cat’s forthcoming fourth studio album, which follows 2021’s Planet Her. The LP debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in July 2021 with 109k album-equivalent units sold in its first week, and went on to spawn three Top 10 singles: “Need to Know,” “Kiss Me More” (with SZA) and “Woman.”
Doja has remained somewhat quiet on the music scene with just a few one-offs since then. In 2022, she scored another Top 10 with her Elvis soundtrack single “Vegas,” and in 2023, she got another No. 1 under her belt with her guest appearance on the remix to previous collaborator SZA’s single, “Kill Bill.”
Earlier this spring, Doja Cat revealed that she was making the shift from Planet Her‘s pop sound (which she recently called a “cash grab”) back to rap.
“No more pop,” she tweeted in April. “i also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that i can’t so I will.”
Doja has previously expressed her frustration with the music industry and her desire to concentrate on her creativity.
“I’m doing all this shit that I don’t fucking wanna do,” she said in an Instagram post at the time. “I don’t wanna take fucking pictures. Like, yes, planning a photoshoot is very fun. Capturing a concept, capturing a visual idea, like something like that, I love fashion. I really do. I love to dress up. I love all that shit.”
Doja continued: “Do I wanna do that shit because I have to? No! No, I don’t! But I feel pressured to do shit like that. I don’t fucking wanna do that. I wanna be home. I wanna make music. I wanna play fucking video games.”
